After a hearty buffet breakfast, assemble at the Expedition launch area to board Zodiacs for a cruise around an ice-strewn bay. Keep watch for seals sunbathing on icebergs and floes, as you skirt across crystal-clear waters that reveal vivid blue ice beneath the surface.
Midday
After a morning on the water, fuel up with a light lunch at Fredheim Restaurant, or sit with your fellow travellers over a buffet lunch in Aune. As you dine, admire the passing scenery beyond the windows. Be sure to stop by the Science Center to learn about Antarctica’s wildlife and environment.
Afternoon
Following a citizen science bird survey with your Expedition Team, it’s back aboard the Zodiac to race alongside porpoising penguins en route to shore. On solid ground, join a moderate but rewarding hike to a gentoo penguin rookery and observe these social penguins navigate daily life.
Evening
You might like to squeeze in another visit to the Science Center – this time learning all about life under Antarctica’s icy waters. Dinner tonight is at Aune for an a la carte feast. Use this time to swap stories and photos with your fellow travellers, before adjourning to the Explorer Bar for a nightcap.
